"For someone who doesn't like Chinese culture, you can say no more. But for an American, like me, who is obsessed with Chinese culture, you just have to tell him that xi 'an is the most culturally rich place in China. That's enough to attract an American who likes Chinese culture.
From last year to now, jian-xin wu in their own way, from the United States brought four students, 20, a total of 80 students in the United States, they are in xian Eurasian institute to learn Chinese, Chinese culture, Chinese history, calligraphy, tea culture, etc., among them, some well, find a job in xi 'an, under the root. Some brought Chinese culture back to the United States.

2010年，他开始在西安外国语大学学习汉语。一个偶然的机会，他接触到西安欧亚学院高培中心国际合作部的几位老师，得知他们正在准备筹办一个丝绸之路留学生项目，这个项目主要是给中美学生搭建桥梁，给他们创造学习机会。吴建新对这个项目很感兴趣，而且他知道有很多美国学生很喜欢中国文化，于是，他加入到这个项目中，负责把美国的学生带到中国来学习。
“对一个不喜欢中国文化的人来说，你说再多也没有用。但对于和我一样，对中国文化很迷恋的美国人来说，你只要告诉他，西安是最有中国文化底蕴的地方就够了。这已足够吸引一个喜欢中国文化的美国人。”
从去年到现在，吴建新用自己的方式，从美国带来了四期学员，每期20名，一共80名美国学生，他们在西安欧亚学院学习汉语、中国文化、中国历史、书法、茶文化等，他们当中，有的学成后，在西安找了工作，扎下了根。有的把中国文化带回了美国。
记者采访时，最新一期的学员刚刚开学几天，他们正在上书法课。对于老师讲的“文房四宝”，同学们一时还摸不着头脑，但看得出，大家兴趣很浓，有模有样地手握毛笔在空中比划着。一位来自加利福尼亚的小伙子对毛笔很是喜欢，当他从记者口中得知现在很多中国学生并不懂得如何写毛笔字时，他高兴地笑了笑，言下之意是“自己已经比很多中国学生强了。”看着自己招来的学生在中国学习得很开心，吴建新在一旁也很满足。他的开心不像美国人那般外露，而是像中国人一样含蓄。他不是我们想象中的美国人的样子，好似他不像普通的老外或游客喜欢吃西安的凉皮、肉夹馍和羊肉泡这“老三样”一样，他最喜欢的西安美食是：烤肉、烤鱼、烤茄子和鸡汤刀削面。当他十分认真地说出自己最喜欢的这四样美食时，在座的西安人都开心地笑了。
