When I first arrived, I couldn't understand anything except from one to ten, and I was not fluent. Now I think it's ok, because I used a lot of methods when I was learning Chinese.
The first option is to choose a foreign roommate for yourself. Exactly, my roommate is a Thai, she is an intermediate class, her level is higher than me, and she speaks fluent. The second way is to watch TV and watch Chinese programs. I can choose many programs, such as news, movies, TV dramas, sports, life, cartoons, etc. My favorite things to watch are cartoons, movies, TV shows and life programs. The cartoon program is for children to watch the program, said is relatively simple, easy to understand and understand. Watching movies and TV shows shows how adults can talk and learn new words. If I meet new words, I can read a dictionary while watching TV, so I can learn a lot of new words. Even if I can't remember it at once, I can still remember and take my time. The third way is to listen to the tape. We have a tape of reading and speaking. Sometimes I listen to the tape, for example, listen to the tape or clean the room, which saves time. In order to understand the meaning, I sometimes replay the recording.
The fourth way is to buy things. I can listen to what other people say when shopping, how to ask, how to buy things, tell the salesperson or listen to them and learn a lot. Sometimes you can ask him, what is this thing called, what is that thing called. I can talk to him for a while if I have time. When you buy something, say at the supermarket, you have to look at the Chinese characters in order to understand what you're buying. 刚来的时候除了从一到十以外，我什么都看不懂，说什么的也不流利。现在我觉得还可以了，因为我在学习汉语的时候用了很多办法。
第一个办法是为自己选个外国同屋。正好，我的同屋是一个泰国人，她是中级班的学生，她的水平比我高，说得也很流利了。这样每天我可以跟她讲话、聊天儿，练习口语。这个办法对我有很大的帮助，如果我不知道怎么说可以顺便问她。
第二的办法是常常看电视，看中国节目。我可以选择很多节目，比如：新闻、电影、电视剧、体育、生活、卡通（动画）什么的。我最喜欢看的是卡通、电影、电视剧和生活节目。卡通节目是给孩子看的节目，说得比较简单，很容易看懂和听懂。看电影和电视剧节目可以知道大人平时怎么说话，也可以从中学到新词。如果遇到生词，我可以一边看电视一边看词典，这样也可以学到很多生词。即使一次记不住，看得多了也能记住，慢慢来。我也喜欢看生活节目，因为能学到很多知识。
看电视可以提高我的听力，也能帮助我认识汉字。提高听力是当然的，但是帮助认识汉字，怎么帮助呢？看电视的时候，可以一边听他们说，一边看下面的字幕，多看汉字一定会帮助我认识和记住汉字。可是因为我的汉语水平还没高，读字幕读得太慢，所以我能看见前面的字，但是后面的就来不及看了。有时我也不是真的看电视，电视打开了，但是我没看，我听着电视的声音做作业。
第三个办法是听课文录音。我们有阅读和口语的课文录音。有时候我会听着录音做事，比如说，听着录音洗衣服或者打扫房间，这样做可以省时间。为了理解意思，我有时候重复播放录音。
第四的办法是买东西。买东西的时候我可以听听别人怎么说，怎么问，怎么买东西，跟售货员说或者听他们说也可以学到很多。有时候可以问他，这个东西叫什么，那个东西叫什么。如果有时间我也可以跟他聊一会儿天儿。买东西的时候比如说在超市，为了了解你要买的东西，必须看汉字。遇到学过的汉字，等于又复习了一次，看不懂的也可以猜猜意思。
其实还有很多学习汉语的办法，生活中也有很多机会看见汉字，在公共汽车站或者地铁站可以看看站牌、去饭馆的时候可以看看菜单，看自己能不能读，能不能明白什么意思。还有跟中国人做朋友也是很好的办法，可以聊天儿、收发短信什么的。
有很多办法可以帮助我们学习汉语，但是最重要的是一定要靠自己，如果自己不努力就没办法了。努力学习是必须的，不可能什么也没有做就会了。
