寮都中学董事长兼校长林俊雄介绍，学校採用“双语教学”，学生人数最多时候超过5000人，由于师资和学额有限，很多当地学生都没有机会就读该校。
“有很多老挝的政府官员把孩子送到我们学校来，包括总理的孩子都是从这里毕业后到中国武汉留学的。”林俊雄介绍，学生90%是本地人，仅有1-2%是华侨，而且大多数都不懂中文。
在中国广西、云南等地，政府向老挝学生提供了各类奖学金，为老挝学生赴华留学创造了良好条件。近年来，获得中国政府奖学金资助先后赴华留学的老挝学生已逾千人。他们大多学成回国后成了老挝经济社会领域的骨干人才。
不过，也有专家提醒，高薪招人虽然给中资企业留下了好名声，但是不利于中资企业在老挝的长远发展。从经济规律角度讲，高薪随?加薪的递进，将增加企业的负担；而如果长期不加薪，就可能像今天的柬埔寨一样，罢工不断，商家遭殃。其二是中资企业待遇高，将在人力资源和经费开支上对其他国家在老挝的企业形成压力，招致妒恨，反而不利于外资企业在老挝的公平竞争。
