  哈利是英国牛津大学中文系的毕业生,他用流利的中文对记者说:“我是三年前来中国的,但当时我不是正式的北大学生。我只是交换了一年而已。我觉得在燕京学堂学习对我是个很好的机会再回到中国,故地重游,多了解这里。”
  据英国《独立报》网站14日报道,2015年有超过39.7万外国学生赴中国学习,是十年前的两倍以上,这使中国排在加拿大、德国和法国之前,成为海外学生最喜爱的留学目的地之一。其中,到中国攻读学位或交流的英国学生数量增至十年前的三倍。
  专家们认为,中国政府作出的努力、中国教育水平的不断提高以及为攻读学位的学生提供的奖学金项目,是造成这种趋势的部分原因。
  根据教育部发布的2015年全国来华留学生数据显示,共有来自202个国家和地区的近四十万名各类外国留学人员在31个省、自治区、直辖市的811所高等学校、科研院所和其他教学机构中学习。生源国最多的依次是韩国、美国、泰国。
  数据显示,2015年学历生人数占在华生总数的比例为46.47%,其中研究生占在华生总数的比例为13.47%,两项比例均较2014年有所上升,学历结构不断优化。

  据了解,近年来中国政府奖学金规模持续扩大,助力来华留学。统计显示,2015年有来自182个国家的40,600人享受中国政府奖学金在华学习,占来华生总数的10.21%。
  我国历来重视来华留学生教育。留学生教育是衡量一个国家国际化、教育水平和人才培养质量的重要标志。但是,一些深层问题也不容忽视。21世纪教育研究院副院长熊丙奇表示,来华留学生中短期留学,研究班的学生远远要多于攻读学位的学生,攻读学位的留学生更多反映出这个国家的整体的教育的吸引力,因为短期留学可能是学语言或者了解中国的教育的情况,而在攻读学位,是要付学费,同时要花几年的时间,要考虑到拿到稳定学术的汇报,因此怎样提高攻读学位留学生的数量,提高比例也是我国未来发展留学生事业面对的一个现实问题。第二方面,来华留学的结构要进行关注,以前来华攻读学位的留学生的数量,来自欧美的还是偏低的,主要还是来自亚洲、非洲、这个问题就是目前看来攻读留学生的学生,还是集中在我国的一些人文科学,比如传统的一些学科,包括中医学、敦煌学、经济学比较有特别,攻读理攻科专业的学位研究生偏少。
