Firstly, the cost is very low. Chinese universities are divided into the 3-years college program (vocational universities) and the 4-years undergraduate program (general university). Undergraduate university’s tuition fees is 3 to 4 times more than the 3-years college program’s tuition fees, especially as most of the undergraduate programs require students to first take a 1 year Chinese foundation classes and obtain an HSK score. Therefore, students ought to pay an additional 20,000 yuan for these classes. The 3-years college program includes 1 year of Chinese language study and students can apply for partial scholarships. These scholarships exempts students from 3 years tuition fees and 3 years dormitory fees. A student is only required to pay an annual fee of 2000 yuan or less.
